CAPE MAY COUNTY WAY, HAITI, IS GROWING!
Six of the 25 projected houses have been paid for! Funds from the BUCK A BLOCK campaign last August, augmented by Hoagie Sale proceeds, purchased house #5! Adult members of a parish family gave the gift of a safe and sanitary house to a destitute family, in lieu of exchanging gifts among themselves at Christmas. Thanks for demonstrating the true spirit of Christ’s coming, and for sponsoring house #6!
The 25 houses on CAPE MAY COUNTY WAY are being built through Food For The Poor, a 4 star, non-denominational charity which serves the poor in Haiti, and surrounding Caribbean nations. 96 cents of every donated dollar collected goes directly to projects.
OLA Social Justice Committee is spearheading a drive to involve the larger community in this outreach to third world Haiti, so as to broaden our donor base, strengthen community ties, increase local awareness of global poverty and put Cape May County on the map in a really positive and life giving way!
THE OCEAN CITY INTRAMURAL CLUB donated the proceeds from their Alumni Tournament to Cape May Count Way. Many thanks to all those who participated!
WILDWOOD CATHOLIC STUDENTS TO CREATE DISPLAY
Students of Social Studies, Art and Religion, will collaborate on an educational display at the County Library Headquarters on Mechanic Street this March. The display will run for a month and be both visual and informative, drawing comparisons between Cape May County, NJ and Cap Haitien, Haiti. We are delighted to have input from local students and look forward to viewing the finished product!

The intent of our project is to alleviate third world suffering and simultaneously, to involve our whole community in a process of “thinking globally and acting locally” We believe Cape May County Way has the potential to demonstrate how one community can effect positive change in the world. It also has the potential to become a real source of community pride.
