Which is more truthful: “ Ignorance is bliss” or “Knowledge is power”? The most fearsome, ruthless and successful conquers in history, from Alexander the Great, to Genghis Khan, to Saladin, or Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot or Osama Bin Laden knew that both of these are equally true. They controlled conquered lands by destroying libraries, schools and teachers in order to keep people in ignorance and used their brand of knowledge as a powerful tool to control what people were allowed to believe and learn.

This is the greatest form of warfare ever invented and has been used successfully since the beginning of time. Even in our own country access to religious truth is severely limited by laws, public opinion and the overarching pressure of the media. It is only small independent stations and schools that are able to broadcast the truth, especially the truth of God’s love. Because of this the average Catholic has a fourth grade education when it comes to understanding our Faith.

This is unacceptable and the primary reason so many fall away from our Faith. In this Year of Faith you are the difference between ignorance and the power of truth.

Each month our Year of Faith committee will provide opportunities for spiritual, social and educational growth. I hope and pray that more will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to experience all the facets of our Faith.  Like James and John in today’s scripture, blessed will that person be who takes the time to acknowledge God’s blessings through faith in Jesus.

Author Unknown scribbles: “There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry at that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.”

Pray the Rosary!! God will tell you what to do! Any Questions?

All Soul’s Day is coming. Please remember your deceased friends and relatives through the use of your All Soul’s envelope.
