PASTOR’S CORNER May 16, 2012
WE’RE HAVING A PARTY!!!!
As a parish we haven’t had a party for some time and before the end of the school year let’s celebrate.
What would we celebrate? The coming of Fr. Cosme, my reappointment, Mary Joan’s graduation, thanksgiving for the many blessings of this past year and you!!
Details: Sunday, June 10th at Bishop McHugh School from 5 pm until 9pm.
We will have a pot luck dinner so bring your favorite drinks and repasts. Anything goes, we’ll take a chance. I’ll get a DJ you bring your dancing shoes.
This is sponsored by the Parish Pastoral Council so if you would like to help set up and clean up call the Parish Center and a member of Council will get back to you.
We have started our House of Charity campaign and as always it is up to each one of us to make a contribution to the health of our area and our Diocese. I was surprised and delighted that the Campaign, for the first time ever, is focusing on Cape May County this year. It is our opportunity to shine. It has been several years since we have reached our goal, last year we came close but just couldn’t get there. Our goal this year is $80,000. Once we reach our goal (positive thinking) 10% comes back to the parish to help fund our many outreach programs. Please prayerfully consider how you will answer God’s call to “Stir up the waters of grace” especially in Cape May County.
Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. With its focus on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives here is a reminder: STAY SPIRITUALLY FIT: According to Lary Doessy, M.D., author of “Prayer is Good Medicine,” it is proven that people who pray regularly live longer and spend fewer health dollars. Prayer develops our relationship with God and thereby adds a deeper meaning to our lives. Prayer is both personal and communal with our church family. Start simply with prayers of thanks for each other, for our meals, and for another day. Ask the Holy Spirit to coach you in the ways of God. God Bless!
