REFORM YOUR LIVES! TURN AWAY FROM YOUR SIN AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL!!
These words, spoken on Ash Wednesday, remind us of the seriousness of Jesus’ message, a message sealed in His innocent blood. Today it seems that our most precious commodity is time and we want to control it. Yet the message of Scripture is clear: “Make time for God and God will make sure that you have time for everything else.” Our parish is providing a myriad of opportunities to develop our spiritual life this Lenten Season, few have availed themselves of these opportunities to live our Ash Wednesday promises. Therefore many have been on a starvation diet when it comes to being spiritually fed, but recall, Lent is truly a time of “calorieless” feasting.
Please check out our web site and bulletin for events and times of Lenten activities. On Ash Wednesday, when you receive your ashes, be aware of what you are proclaiming: “Yes, I am a sinner, I acknowledge this before all the world and I publicly attest I am willing to do whatever is necessary change my bad habits into “habits of goodness.”
Scriptures this week are all about being aware and allowing the obvious to speak about God’s will for us. From the burning bush, to the moving stone, to the fig tree we hear God calling us to greater union with Him. What obvious ways has God spoken to you this week through natural or ordinary things that seem out of place? Perhaps like Moses or Paul or the gardener we will make a detour in our lives and find the peace, strength, faith and hope that only a living relationship with God can make happen.
See you in Church or some other nice place, may you have a “disturbing” Lenten season.
