PASTOR’S CORNER May 18, 2011

Published May 18, 2011 by Our Lady of the Angels in Pastor's Corner

As a parish we welcome Fr. Chris Mann to our family. Fr. Chris is temporarily assigned
to us as a replacement for Fr. Antony. Fr. Chris is originally from South Philly and has
been a Franciscan for the past eight years. He will be coming full time into the diocese
and will be here until a permanent chaplain is assigned. I know that you will welcome
him and enjoy his priestly gifts. (Yes, there will be a full time chaplain coming soon.)

Don’t forget!! Today after the 11:00 mass we will have our annual May Procession.
Please make an effort to attend, it is one of the best ways we have of honoring Mary and
giving thanks to God for the many blessings given to our parish.

Tonight (May 18th) we will celebrate our Catechists. They are a unique blessing and give
many hours to education and witness to our youth, RCIA candidates and those preparing
for Baptism. The focus of our parish and the diocese this year will be on Evangelization.
You will certainly be hearing more about the work of catechesis and all those who have
the discipling spirit that we are all called to celebrate. Thank the catechists!

Our congratulations to our new parish council members: Linda Viventi, Andy Petrella
and Jayne Finocchiaro. It is a time of continued growth for our parish and I trust that they
will continue the great work of all those who have gone before them.

Deacon Ralph Catanese is celebrating his 25th anniversary as a Deacon on May 25th.
After the 11:00 mass next Sunday we will have a reception for him, please come and
thank him for the many years and service and joy he has brought not only to our parish
but to all the parishes in which he has served.

Jesus makes a very profound and seemingly impossible promise this week: whoever
believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because
I am going to the Father. In the gift of the Spirit we are called to share and bless one
another. One way we do this is through the House of Charity, please help us to do “the
greater works” and make the impossible – probable!!!
